In an emergency, stop reading and phone a vet. Your own vet, the nearest 24-hour emergency animal hospital, ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center on (888) 426-4435, or Pet Poison Helpline on (855) 764-7661. Both helplines charge a consultation fee and are open 24 hours.
Not veterinary advice
The information and calculators on dogcalcs.com are provided for general informational and educational purposes only. They do not constitute veterinary advice, diagnosis or treatment, and they do not create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship.
No substitute for examining your dog
A calculator cannot examine your dog, review its history, or know what medication it is on. Results are based on published averages and thresholds for a general population of dogs. Individual dogs differ, sometimes substantially, and breed, age, pregnancy, existing illness and concurrent medication can all change the correct answer.
Toxicity tools in particular
The toxicity calculators estimate a dose from published thresholds. A result in a lower band does not mean your dog is safe. It means the calculated dose falls below the level at which signs are typically reported, using estimated concentrations and an estimated amount eaten. If you have any doubt at all, contact a vet or a poison control line rather than relying on the result.
Always consult a veterinarian
Always seek the advice of a qualified veterinarian with any questions about the health of your dog. Never disregard professional veterinary advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read here.
